The Centre for Global Education
~Be the change you want to see in the world~
Mohandas Gandhi 1869-1948
The centre is the brainchild of the former Vice Chancellor, Datuk Dr. Muhammad Rais Abdul Karim. Mindful of the need to develop quality human capital in the university, he took a bold initiative to set up the Aminuddin Baki Centre for Global Education. The idea received support and approval from the 37th Meeting of the Board of Directors No 5/2004. On 13 October 2004, the centre was officially established.
On 21 January 2005, Yang Bahagia Dato' Prof. Dr. Yusof Mohd Hasan joined the centre under the Special Trainer Scheme. He ignited some of the earliest activities in the centre. The centre started its full operation on 1 June 2005. Prof. Dr. B.A.Hamzah was installed as the first Director.
The centre initially operated its activities at Bangunan Malim Sarjana. On 15 September 2006, the centre finally moved to a new building, situated at the southern wing of the Sultan Abdul Jalil Shah campus.
When Professor Dato' Dr. Aminah Binti Ayob was appointed to be the Vice Chancellor on 1 September 2007, the centre started to operate under the guidance and advice of the Vice Chancellor. On 1 March 2009, the current Director, prof. Dr. Rajendran Nagappan was appointed to lead the centre.
